The VET4e-Inclusion project is candidate for the award contest “2012 e-Inclusion Awards”!

The contest, launched at the beginning of the year by the European Commission, is openned to all actors, organisations and persons who developped an e-inclusion solution or experienced a story which fostered their e-inclusion. It’s worthwhile to note that the last edition of this contest was in 2008! The 2012 edition thus promises to be very interesting.

On 12th and 13th December, the final conference of the VET4e-I project was celebrated in Brussels.

The participation of VET4e-I members to the EUCIS-LLL conference on validation and recognition of informal and non-formal learning

The project members gathered in the city of EU institutions so as to take part in an important seminar on validation organized by the civil society platform for lifelong learning, EUCIS-LLL, and present the project’s findings related to this topic. In this purpose, Milvia RASTRELLI from L’APIS, project member in charge of the Overall Quality Assurance, introduced to the audience the main outputs of the research on e-facilitator profile. The VET4e-I case study was preceeded of the intervention of the commissionner Koen NOMDEN from DG EAC, Unit 1, and of Jo HAWLEY, researcher in the consultancy body GHK. Noem KOMDEM introduced the Council Recommandation on the promotion and validation of non-formal and informal learning, whereas Jo HAWLEY presented the latest developments in Europe and the Inventory on validation of non-formal and informal learning.

Interview with Régine Roué, manager of an EPM (Espace Public Multimédia – Public Internet Centre) of Brest, Brittany, France

We got in touch with Ms Régine Roué, coordinator of the PIC situated in Kérourien, a suburb quarter of Brest, which is considered by the local government as an “urban sensitive area”[1] of Brest, notably because of its high rate of unemployment.

Since 2003, Régine invests lots of energy welcoming people of her quarter in the online centre, and draws bridges with local services to improve people’s accompaniment.

Active in her neighborhood as well as outside thanks to partnership projects set up with other PICs and local services, she feels also concerned by issues of digital intermediaries, and by the role of e-facilitators in the accompaniment of vulnerable groups. In fact, Régine took part in the experimentation of the VET4e-I pilot online training that occurred in last spring 2011, led within the project’s experimentation phase, and which purpose was notably to highlight the role of e-facilitators for social inclusion.

VET4e-I project is going to celebrate its final conference in Brussels on 12th December 2011.

Joining an important public hearing on the validation of non-formal and informal learning organized by the European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning (EUCIS-LLL), the project members will introduce the VET4e-I project main achievements regarding the topic of validation.

Following this first public presentation, the VET4e-I project’s members will host their final conference during the second part of the day. Here, the project’s achievements and potential future involvements will be discussed in more details with the analysis of European policy experts in terms of validation, e-Inclusion and e-facilitator’s profile and training.  The project members and the participants will have time to exchange on the different topics.

Once more, the VET4e-I project team has gained positive feedback from peers and especially, telecentres’ coordinators from all over Europe as they took part in the yearly event “Telecentre Europe summit” on last 26th to 28th october.

This was the opportunity for VET4e-I team to present the latest conclusions, after the project’s phasis of consolidation of its exploitation and sustainability strategy.

Therefore, questions such as ways to support the actions of the telecentres and the roles played by the e-facilitators that were at stake during the summit have been discussed and enriched by some of the VET4e-I project results’ analysis shared with the public.

The swiss Foundation for the Development of Permanent Education (FDEP) organizes a conference on the topic of self-training for trainers.  One of the working theme in the conference is about the “strong and weak points of e-self-directed training for trainers”.  Invited to present its experience, the VET4e-I project members will share the results and evaluation of the training experimentation which took place in last Spring.

The 4th Telecentre Europe Summit is going to take place on next 27th to 28th October in Brussels.
The network will gather telecentres’ leaders and guests from all over Europe will be present for this yearly event.

The programme is going to be organized on 2 days, during which the participants will be invited to reflect on the present and future role of eSkills in jobs.

On 26-29th october, the European Forum of Technnical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET)  organizes its annual conference which theme is “Towars ET2020. Positive action to enhance Vocational Education and Training within a Lifelong Learning agenda“.
The conference’s objective is to try to put in practice the priorities of the EU2020 strategical “flagships”, notably by developing possible actions plans.
